Today I want to tell you the story of how Kate married Rob in a ceremony that felt so perfectly ‘them’ it was like watching their entire history come to life.
When many folks envision their wedding day, they say they want to be surrounded by their most beloved family and friends. Kate and Rob literally did it. Their parents escorted each of them down the stunning hand crafted wood replica of Michelangelo’s Laurentian Library staircase that is at the heart of Summerour Studio to stand on a circular stage with everyone they loved seated in a circle around them. A wedding in the round.
But that was only the first of many unique touches. Another important element to their story together is their mutual best friend Robyn, who was one of their officiants. Robyn was given full license to surprise them and their guest in any way she chose. So she created a wonderful call and response game for the guests to play during the ceremony as a way of telling Kate and Rob’s love story.
Instead of a traditional ring box, Rob designed and printed a cassette shaped ring box that was brought out by his nephews in an old school boom box.
And honestly, that’s still only the tip of the iceberg. This wedding was such an amazing experience for everyone. And to top the night off, the dance party was absolutely epic. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a group of folks dance that hard.
Thank you so much Kate and Rob for having me be there to document your incredible wedding day at Summerour Studio. Getting to know the two of you has been so much fun. Here’s to lots of laughter and adventure for y’all for many years to come.
Congratulations!
