Today I want to tell you about Diana and Taylor’s romantic California coast elopement adventure. And while these photos are exciting and beautiful, there’s a lot more to this story than meets the eye. It all started with a plan to elope to Sequoia NP, a bucket list location for this adventurous couple. But winter weather had other plans. The closer we got to their wedding date, the more snow fell in central California. And with just a few weeks left before their wedding date, the park announced that the weather had forced an extended closure and they could not be open to visitors until the early summer.
But every fan of The Princess Bride knows weather cannot stop true love. It can only delay it a little. (I may be paraphrasing here.) And so, with great determination and the power of love on their side, they got to work securing a new location. That is how we found ourselves standing on the cliffs above Shark Fin Cove on a sunny spring afternoon in April, watching these two promise to love each other forever.
The next day, we drove down to Big Sur and explored the coastline at Garrapata State Park, which is spectacular in the sun or in the fog. One of the things I love most about foggy and cloudy days is how vibrant and rich all the colors become. Big Sur never disappoints, and these two newlyweds now have an amazing adventure story to tell for years and years to come.
Congratulations Diana and Taylor! And thank you for trusting me to tell your story. It was an honor to be a part of your adventure.
