Negril Jamaica Destination Wedding | Holly and Chris

“Love; it will not betray you, dismay you, or enslave you. It will set you free.” – Mumford & Sons

Today I want to tell you the story of a fire haired girl and a very tall boy and their Negril Jamaica destination wedding. You met Holly and Chris a couple of months ago when we made their engagement photos at Sweetwater Creek State Park, and I told you about how hilarious they are. And that’s still true. They make everyone smile and laugh with their special blend of unexpected observations (Holly) and super smooth dance moves (Chris… and Holly too). But they also have a special magic when they’re together that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy when you spot it in action. They are sort of the personification of yin and yang. They really bring out the best in each other, apparently right from day 1. When I asked them how they met, Holly told me, “Chris and I met through mutual friends in Chicago. A few days later, a friend asked how long we had been dating. Apparently we were acting like a couple while out on the town. I then told Chris that since we’re dating, he should take me on our first date. He did. And it was the best date either of us had even been on.”  And that special magic was especially evident during their Negril Jamaica destination wedding.

But my favorite story is their engagement. Holly said, “I had just been getting over being sick. Chris was been the sweetest man to me all week, taking care of me, making sure I was happy, doing little things here and there. He was great. I was finally feeling better and he came home from work, told me he had a surprise for me and that I should wait in the other room. I honestly just thought he was doing something little, maybe got a new couch cover that our new puppy destroyed. I had no idea what was coming. When he told me I could come out, I rounded the corner and he was standing in our sunroom; my favorite Garth Brooks playing, both pups by his side, and a huge bouquet of flowers. I still had no idea. I thought this was it, a sweet gesture. Chris explained how in love he was with me, how he wanted to be with me forever, how I was the one for him. This is where I blacked out; not literally, just finally realized what was happening. He got down on one knee and asked if I would marry him. I threw my arms around him and said yes immediately. Both of us were in tears.”
