Atlanta’s Best LGBTQ Friendly Wedding Venues

THE WIMBISH HOUSE

First of all, I’m sorry – because I will never stop talking about this place. If you’ve ever dreamed of saying your vows somewhere elegant and timeless (plus possibly haunted in a romantic way), then The Wimbish House is calling your name. This historic Midtown mansion has serious old-world European charm, complete with stunning high ceilings, a grand ballroom straight out of a fairytale, and just enough gilded glamour to make your Aunt Trixie cry (in a good way).

But don’t let the vintage vibes fool you. The staff here are pros at hospitality… and they’re all hardcore allies. They go above and beyond, and yes, that includes being inclusive and affirming without making it a whole thing (if you’re queer, you know exactly what I’m talking about). Plus, the venue is walking distance from some of Atlanta’s swankiest hotels, or you can keep it cozy and get ready on-site in one of their gorgeous upstairs suites.

Jacob and Jared said “I do” here, and you might want to, too. Their wedding photos are all the proof you need that The Wimbish House gives queer love stories justice.

Piedmont Park

If Atlanta had a backyard, it would be Piedmont Park. Designed by the same architect behind NYC’s Central Park, this green giant has absolute range. Whether you’re planning a simple ‘just-us’ elopement at the lakefront gazebo or a more luxurious thousand-guest (kidding, cap it at 300) event at Greystone that makes your cousin’s golf club wedding look a bit shabby (don't worry, your competitive relationship with them is healthy), this place is sure to make you the main character in your own cinematic queer rom-com.

At Piedmont Park, you’ve got multiple venue options: Magnolia Hall, Dockside, and Greystone, just to name a few. They each come with that unbeatable combination of skyline views and nature-drenched vibes. Want that perfect golden hour photo with the city lights twinkling behind you? Done. Warning, though, your guests will cry and post about it.

Bonus: the park features a playground designed by sculptor Isamu Noguchi so, you know, even the jungle gym is high art. The bottom line is that no two weddings here ever look the same, which is perfect when your love story is anything but average.

ATLANTA CONTEMPORARY

This place makes modern art out of every single wedding photo – literally. If you want your wedding to feel like it belongs in a museum (but without the "do not touch" vibes) (ok, but actually, you still can't touch the art), Atlanta Contemporary is your winner. This Westside gem has been serving the art scene since 1973, and now it’s ready to serve your ceremony in a stunning open-air pavilion, and shake up cocktails framed by bright white gallery walls. It has enough artsy edge to make your wedding feel editorial in the best way.

Everett and Fred’s day looked like it belonged in Art In America, or on @jerrysaltz Insta feed. The indoor space is gallery minimalist but dramatic, and the outdoor pavilion is a total showstopper, especially at night. Oh, and did we mention there's an actual on-site artist studio to get ready in? Because of course there is. That’s how you know it’s queer-wedding-approved. This venue’s got taste, range, and an open mind, so if you’re ready to make some art of your own, claim your canvas here.

Georgia Aquarium

Georgia Aquarium is basically a love letter to sea creatures and romance as deep as the ocean. Imagine saying your vows with a private view of the whale shark exhibit, colorful schools of fishes, and a giant sea turtles curiously interrupting your officiant mid-speech and stealing the show. (Trust me, your guests will love it, and you’ll love the photos.) The ballroom looks right into their tanks, making your wedding feel like an underwater fairytale without the soggy shoes.

If you want to take things up a notch, couples can even snag after-hours access to the exhibits for portraits, meaning your wedding photos will have zero photobombers… unless, of course, you count a hundred neon jellyfish. Who doesn’t want that in an aquarium shoot, anyway?

Bonus points: The venue is situated right next to Centennial Park and steps away from some of downtown’s finest hotels, so your guests get full city-core vibes without the hustle and bustle. For a preview, check out Dani and Edy’s unforgettable oceanic dream of a day, complete with mermaid-themed ensembles and a cameo from Edy’s favorite creature, the whale shark.

Atlanta Botanical Gardens

If your dream wedding vibe is Secret Garden meets Imagine Me and You, Atlanta Botanical Garden is calling your name –in birdsong and ambient wind chimes (if you time it just right). Whether you're planning something intimate under a canopy of orchids or throwing a full-scale event with 200 of your closest friends (because found families come in packs), this place has a backdrop for it. Multiple ceremony and reception spots, both indoor and outdoor, mean you can curate your day like your dream wedding Pinterest board.

Couples get full access to the garden for portraits, which means tons of opportunities to live out their child-like whimsy and daydreams. Plus, with Midtown's best hotels just around the corner, guests can seamlessly sashay from formal to afterparty mode without sacrificing comfort or glam, aka no one feels scammed about their supposedly ‘waterproof’ mascara.

If your vibe leans more toward ‘wine aunt’ and brunches than ‘vodka mom’ and ballroom, the onsite restaurants offer a chic setting for some smaller gatherings. Imagine cocktails among the camellias and a reception by a lively lily pond – it promises haute without being high-pressure. If you’re blissfully queer into beautiful botanical life, then consider this a match made in heaven.

Westside Warehouse

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels like a Vogue editorial shot in a converted factory a la America’s Next Top Model, then you might want to consider the Westside Warehouse. This industrial-chic venue brings exposed brick, towering ceilings, and just the right amount of grit-meets-glam to make your big day look like the cool love story it is. It’s giving sophisticated steampunk.

The space is sleek, modern, and totally transformable. Whether you want dramatic lighting, moody florals, or a disco ball (or all three, honestly – it’s a queer wedding, after all). The open floor plan is basically a blank canvas, which means you can build your wedding exactly the way you want it: without anyone forcing the ‘rustic’ mason-jar-and-burlap aesthetic on you.

Emily and Liz pulled off a celebration that was equal parts intimate and edgy, with portraits that practically beg to be framed and hung like artwork. The venue’s gorgeous patio space means your guests can go from mocktail hour to craft cocktail bar in under ten minutes flat.

Cator Woolford Gardens

I love this place because it practically bathes every moment in golden hour light. Yes, I mean that warm dreamy glow photographers chase like it’s the holy grail (because it kind of is). Cator Woolford Gardens nails the perfect balance of elegance and timeless beauty of the 1920s, giving you a lush, intimate setting without feeling staged or stiff. Plus, proceeds from all weddings here support the Frazer Center, so you’re not just celebrating love, you’re spreading it!

Tucked away in the city, this venue is more than just a garden –it’s a breath of fresh air wrapped in Italian-style elegance, infused with decades of classic beauty and Southern charm. With 39 acres of undisturbed old growth forest, the stately trees and tranquil waters that hold a quiet space for the most intimate moments between the couple and their loved ones.

Picture your ceremony under a their gorgeous grape vine canopy, followed by portraits that look like a scene from a vintage romance film. Just ask Anna and Jessica, whose wedding here felt like stepping into a storybook: soft, dreamy, and timeless enough to be passed on for generations.

Honorable mention

Houston Mill House at Emory

Nestled on Emory University’s historic campus, the Houston Mill House is best known for its Southern charm. With its ivy-covered bricks and old-world aesthetic, it’s enough to make you feel like you’re starring in your own queer period drama (think A Portrait of a Lady on Fire, except less tragic). It’s intimate without feeling cramped and classic without feeling outdated. Plus, because it’s surrounded by woods, the location makes for quiet, cinematic portraits. Jasmyn and Shakyla’s wedding here struck that rare balance: classic without being overdone. If you want a venue that feels like a place, not just a backdrop, this one delivers.

Upstairs Atlanta

Upstairs Atlanta nails the modern loft vibe without feeling cold or overstyled. Despite its modern brick walls (like your first New York apartment, but with better budget), its vaulted ceilings and natural light makes every photo pop without even trying. The layout flows like a good party should. Ceremony, cocktails, and reception, all in one thoughtfully designed space that doesn’t give you major claustrophobia. Nicholas and Workman turned it into something sleek and personal, like the kind of wedding you leave thinking, “Okay, that’s how you do it.” Perfect for couples who want laid-back city energy and a venue that lets the celebration take the spotlight.
