Today I want to tell you the wedding story of one of my favorite couples of all time, Beka and Kacey. They were married last month on a rainy summer morning at the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Beka and Kacey have been together ten years now. They met in nursing school and dated for a couple of years. Then Beka was ordered to deploy to Iraq, and that’s when she contacted me. She asked me to photograph her surprise proposal to Kacey at Piedmont Park. That was in 2011. I’ve been a huge fan of them ever since, stalking them on social media and hearting all the photos they post of their travel adventures and their dog, and fangirling over Beka’s selfie game. A lot has happened in the eight years since that day in the park when Kacey said yes. Our world has changed in a lot of positive ways. We’ve gone from living in a world where they had to ask me not to post any photos of Beka in uniform, to a world where they could be legally married in a church. Together they have conquered a lot of school, moving a half dozen times, job changes, house buying, dog adoption, cat adoption, and all the rest of the daily things that come along with being in a relationship. They’ve done it all with humor and love, and they have gotten stronger together each passing year. It was the greatest honor to be asked to come back and tell this chapter of their story together. Beka and Kacey, thank you for trusting me all those years ago, and then again with your wedding. I will always be your biggest fan. Congratulations!
