Today I want to introduce you to Kate and Rob, who are now two of my most favorite people in Atlanta. You know how the story goes… a super cool couple emails me and says they want to make their engagement photos at home so they can include their pets. I show up, meet the doggie and the kitten, and I’m all in. The end.
Ok, well, that’s not actually the end. But it’s most of what you need to know.
Anyway, after making a few photos in their apartment with their furry family, we headed out to the Beltline and over to Ponce City Market.
If you have not been, Ponce City Market is a huge old building in the Old Fourth Ward. It opened in 1926 as a Sears warehouse. By the time I moved to Atlanta in the 90s, it was City Hall East, and then it sat empty for years before being sold for development. In 2012, the first tenant opened their doors and it quickly grew to be the market we know now, full of restaurants, shops, and cool vibes. It also connects right to the Beltline, which makes it a ton of fun to visit and explore.
That mix is what makes it so good for engagement photos. Inside and outside, you get historic brick, big windows, murals, and tree-lined paths. You can have a city feel in one photo and park-like greenery in the next without ever getting in the car. And we all know how little we want to get in the car in Atlanta these days.
For Kate and Rob, that variety is their life, their story right now. We had snuggles with their pets, a little wine, some fun on the Beltline, and after exploring the main area of PCM for a bit, we headed up to The Roof for an epic mini-golf battle to see who would be champion. The perfect Sunday date.
If you’re considering engagement photos at Ponce City Market, wear comfy shoes and be ready to explore. There’s almost endless photo possibilities. Like another favorite local spot, Piedmont Park, I can always find exciting new options so that every set of photos looks unique.
Congratulations Kate and Rob! I’m so excited to be a part of your wedding in a few weeks!
