Tampa Engagement Photos | Juliana and Nicole

black and white film photo of engaged lgbtq couple in tropical garden

Today I want to introduce you to Juliana and Nicole – the ultimate power couple – who are getting hitched this summer! I recently hit the road and drove down to Tampa to meet up with them, explore some funky spots, and get to know them a little better before the big day.

And let me tell you, these two are truly amazing humans. They had me cracking up the entire time with their witty humor, and their warmth and thoughtfulness are next-level. But what really blew me away was their determination. Nothing, and I mean nothing, was going to stand in their way of achieving their goals – not even a gazillion mosquitoes (thanks Florida).

The photo at the top was made on my 4×5 field camera that I dragged along in hopes that I might persuade them to let me try out a new film stock in that format. Despite being devoured by the Florida state bird the entire time, they stood their ground and didn’t move a muscle until we were done. They never even said a word until we was done, and I never once saw them flinch. Imagine my relief when the photograph came out so well. Without a doubt, I’ve never been so nervous about developing a sheet of film.

The best part of the adventure is that, by the end of the day, I felt like I’d known Juliana and Nicole forever. We had a blast together and I think you can see it in these photos.

Congratulations Juliana and Nicole! And thank you again and again for humoring my wild ideas all day. You’re phenomenal and I can’t wait to see you again soon!
