Today I’d like to tell you the story of Emily and Tara. They met on Bumble and after just twelve messages, took a leap and decided to meet up for a comedy show. That first date set everything in motion.
Six years later, they have built a life full of laughter, love, and cats. Everything changed on a trip to Ojai, the first place they ever went away together. Ojai is a small town in Ventura County. It’s known for art, hiking trails, and the “pink moment” when the hills glow at sunset. That was where Emily asked Tara to marry her.
Their wedding at Tuscan Gardens at Westlake Village Inn brought the story full circle. The venue is an Italian style vineyard and resort in Westlake Village. The ivy walls, stone paths, and gardens give it a timeless look. And you’ve probably heard me say a dozen times how the light in California is always perfect, even on a cloudy day that can’t decide if it’s going to storm or not.
Their ceremony was sweet and funny and tearful. They were surrounded by friends and family who have been part of their journey from the start. Emily’s sister officiated, making it even more personal and special for everyone. And their reception was amazing, full of dancing, laughter, and reenactments of prom photos, like one does.
Emily and Tara’s story is proof that sometimes the best things come from taking a leap. Whether that’s swiping right, heading out to see a comic after twelve messages, or saying yes at sunset in Ojai. Or all of the above.
