“Benedicto: May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. May your mountains rise into and above the clouds. May your rivers flow without end, meandering through pastoral valleys tinkling with bells, past temples and castles and poets’ towers into a dark primeval forest where tigers belch and monkeys howl, through miasmal and mysterious swamps and down into a desert of red rock, blue mesas, domes and pinnacles and grottos of endless stone, and down again into a deep vast ancient unknown chasm where bars of sunlight blaze on profiled cliffs, where deer walk across the white sand beaches, where storms come and go as lightning clangs upon the high crags, where something strange and more beautiful and more full of wonder than your deepest dreams waits for you — beyond that next turning of the canyon walls.” -Edward Abbey
Beth and Forrest and Their Amazing Wedding Adventure
Today, at long last, I want to share with you the story of Beth and Forrest, and their amazing families and friends. Their wedding, like all the weddings that I photograph, was deeply personal and full of special touches that made it uniquely their own. Also like all of the other couples I photograph, they worked very hard to make sure that their family and friends enjoyed the wedding day (week) to the fullest. Because Beth and Forrest are Nice People, and that’s what Nice People do. But that’s about where the similarities end. Take a look and see for yourself.
This is a group of people that likes to be outside, out of doors, out in the wild, out on a bike, out on a run. Out, out, out. So, it makes sense then, that on the morning of the wedding, Forrest and several of the guys went on a blister-building off-road dirt-bike ride. And it makes sense that Beth would get up early and run a 10k with Jolleen along the banks of the beautiful green Colorado River. And of course, afterwards they all came back and helped prepare for the wedding. Because that’s what you do when you have super powers.
In case you hadn’t guessed already, this was the funniest getting ready session I’ve ever photographed. Ever.
And that, my wonderful internet friends, is the story of Beth and Forrest’s wedding day in sunny Moab, Utah. But it is not the complete story of their wedding. You will have to come back to see the rest of their wedding. Because there’s a couple more days of fun left after this day ended.
