Today I want to tell you the story of Berit and Brendan’s perfectly planned, effortlessly elegant yet dog friendly, Fourth of July weekend backyard wedding at Berit’s mom’s house in Rhode Island. That’s a lot of modifiers, but describing this wedding requires them. It’s not often that you attend a wedding that is officiated by Elvis, with music performed by multiple family members, and a toast performed in Klingon by the best man, all while maintaining an understated elegance that makes everyone feel joyful and relaxed. Berit and Brendan have the comfortable ease of a couple that has been together for a few years, and they have. They met on their first day of college and were friends until graduation, when they finally decided to date. Seven years later, it was time to get married, but on their terms. I’m a fan of their terms.
