Today I want to tell you the story of Jimmy and Steve’s beautiful end of summer wedding at the Roswell River Landing on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. Jimmy and Steve have been together twenty years now. When you meet them, you immediately want to always be around them. Steve’s laughter and bright smile fill the room with booming energy. And Jimmy’s gentle kindness radiates from his smile and his eyes so strongly that it makes you feel warm and content just to be near him. Together they are perfect. In fact, they are so perfect together, that Steve says when they started planning their wedding, their families were surprised because everyone thought they were already married. And so they laughed and then they planned a wedding that included magical touches like a butterfly release and their moms as their flower girls, throwing flower petals on all the guests as they made their way down the aisle. Their son was one of their groomsmen, and Jimmy’s aunt made them a breathtakingly beautiful scarf to use for their hand binding. And since they already had rings from their commitment ceremony in 1999, Jimmy’s aunt also made them chains to wear around their necks to symbolize their continued commitment to each other and this beautiful perfect day.
