My Clients Are The Coolest People

Mr. Carnegie probably was talking about cold hard cash.  Moolah.   Dineros.  Benjamins.  Bling bling.   But I think his wisdom applies to other things too.  Like the wealth that comes from finding that just right person and promising to spend your life with them.  Until death do you part.  Now if that’s not putting all your eggs in one basket, I don’t know what is.

This weekend is going to be insanely amazing because on Saturday, Sharie will marry Chris and they will begin a new chapter in their life together as husband and wife.  And that’s really cool.  Make that, Sharie and Chris are really cool.  In fact, I wanted to brag a little bit about how cool they are ahead of time…. which is the why for the extra blog post this week.

Last week, when I went to visit Sharie to discuss and finalize their wedding photography plan, she took a few moments to tell me about, and show me, some of the totally neat stuff they have created for their wedding.  Like vintage jelly jar toasting glasses and drinking goblets, the altar for their ceremony, shepherd’s hook aisle markers, and so many more things.  If you recall, I mentioned in their engagement session blog post that Chris was making home made beer for the reception too.  These guys are self sufficient and just totally cool people.  They are the kind of friends you want to have when the zombies take over.  Oh, and I’m pretty sure they’re going to paaaarrty like it’s 1899 too.  Just sayin’.

And then, when it was time for me to leave, Sharie handed me a dozen eggs that their chickens had laid.  Talk about melting a farm girl’s heart.  Do y’all know how long it’s been since I’ve had a home grown egg?  When I was a little girl, the only eggs we ever ate were from my grandpa’s chickens.  It wasn’t until I went to college that I bought and ate a grocery store egg.  Between that and having to drink chlorinated tap water, it was a difficult transition.  In my biography, I refer to those years as the Dark Years.

But I toughed it out and got urbanized.  Now I drink my latte with low-fat milk just like you do.  But just for a moment there, I was taken back to a time when things moved a little slower and people acted like neighbors.  In the summer you always left a country neighbor’s house with something from the garden… because they were damn sick of eating frikkin’ squash, and will you please take some of these things from me?!?  I’ll never forget my mom pleading with anyone and everyone who stopped by to please take some of these zucchini because we just can’t stand to eat any more of them.

Btw, that’s the actual eggs in the photo.  Aren’t they gorgeous?  There’s no way I could eat them before I made a photo.  But now it’s Omelette Time (say that in your best M.C. Hammer voice).  Yum.
