But it ain’t all buttons and charts, little albatross. You know what the first rule of flying is? Well, I suppose you do, since you already know what I’m about to say. Love. You can learn all the math in the ‘Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don’t love, she’ll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she’s hurtin’ ‘fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Today I want to tell a story about a girl and a boy and a place that’s very special to them. This is Jessica and Colin, and they were married in an Orleans, Massachusetts backyard wedding after being together for so long that everyone said, “It’s about time!” That’s 11 years for any of you who are wondering how long you can stretch it out. Jess and Colin met as freshmen at the University of Maryland, and their relationship has weathered dissertations, job searches, wedding planning, a couple of moves, and grad school. That’s a lot of love, friends. They chose to be married in the backyard of Colin’s grandfather’s home in Orleans, Massachusetts, under his favorite tree.
