The Lodge at Guntersville State Park Wedding | Malori and Jeremiah

Today I’d like to tell you the story of how Malori and Jeremiah were married high up on a mountain overlooking expansive Lake Guntersville at sunset on a gorgeous fall afternoon in Alabama. Malori and Jeremiah had visited The Lodge at Lake Guntersville State Park previously and fell in love with the sweeping views and the tranquility. Since they are avid hikers and love the outdoors, it was an easy choice for them to decide to get married there.

Their love story is right out of your favorite modern fairy tale. They met in 2014 in their high school physics class. Malori texted Jeremiah outside of the group chat, and that started them on the path to this day. Eventually they knew it was time. Malori told me, “We rented a cute little cabin in Bryson City, NC and went on hikes with beautiful views where we were the only people around, by waterfalls and overlooks but Jeremiah didn’t propose. At this point I knew Jeremiah had purchased the ring (I helped design it) and was expecting it to be the proposal moment. Turns out, Jeremiah forgot the ring and only realized it halfway to the cabin.”

“About 3 weeks later Jeremiah planned a backpacking trip in Hayesville, NC. We were on a horribly maintained trail but eventually got all of the way up to the peak of Big Scaly Mountain and had unobstructed views of the southern Nantahala Wilderness. After we ate our dehydrated chili mac and chicken alfredo meals for dinner, he proposed by saying “I want to do things like this with you forever.””

If you know me, you know that stuff like that makes my heart skip a beat. Couples with stories like that are what keep me excited to pick up my cameras. Also, couples who ask me if they can include their dog in their Atlanta Historic Fourth Ward Park engagement photos make me really happy too.

The last couple of weddings this year have had weather with main character energy. I’ve been glad to have many years of wedding photography experience to give me the wisdom to know to lean into it instead of fight it. These photos were brought to you by one perfect couple, one stunning sunset, and thirty mile per hour winds.

Congratulations Malori and Jeremiah! Thank you for trusting me to tell your story.
