Vibrant Capulet New Orleans Wedding Photos

Today I want to tell you the story of Becca and Gi’s epic celebration of their beautiful marriage at Capulet in sweltering New Orleans. It may have been hot as hell outside, but inside the party was electric. We’re going to tell this story using their words and my photos. Enjoy

How did you meet? In the gayest of ways—a mutual ex. Don’t worry, she’s invited. In fact, she’s the person driving the pedicab as our getaway ride.

How long have you been together? Officially since June 2, 2018, but there was a solid 6 month period before that where we were definitely together but Beck didn’t realize it.

How did you get engaged? Gi proposed to Beck under the Tree of Life in New Orleans (a massive oak tree draped in spanish moss). Beck proposed back at Gi’s favorite Mardi Gras parade, Muses, with a diamond-ring-shaped Muses shoe. Both proposals were surprises, and both times we said yes.

Is there anything special or unique you’d like to tell us about your wedding? We’re getting married on May 24th, which is a special day– it’s Gi’s parents’ anniversary. Beck’s parents got married on the same date that Beck’s mom’s parents got married (November 17th), so we are honoring Beck’s parents with the idea and Gi’s parents with the date.

Both of our rings are family heirlooms. Gi’s ring is from Beck’s great-great-grandmother, Virginie. It was her wedding ring from her marriage to Ulrich in 1887. Beck’s ring is from her paternal great-grandmother, Mary (who inherited the ring from her mother in the early 1900s).

Our wedding will have a vegetarian buffet, a glitter bar, a temp tattoo booth with replicas of our actual tattoos, a tarot reader, a memorial table to honor the people we wish could be there with us, and a pedicab photobooth.

The escort cards will be handwritten letters from us to each guest and instead of a bouquet toss there will be lotto tickets underneath everyone’s chair so every guest has an equal opportunity to “get lucky.”

The ceremony and reception space will be decorated with 6’ paper flowers that we’ve been hand-making. We’re making our wedding cake out of paper and will instead be serving “surprise” ice cream instead (a tradition to honor Gi’s sister, Denise, whose favorite memory involves California night club with Drag Queens who served surprise ice cream).

With any luck, our wedding will be glitter-filled, over-the-top, and one big love letter to the people who got us here.
