Today I want to share with you a few favorite photos from Kelly and David’s rainy summer wedding day at the fantastic non-profit Atlanta Contemporary Art Center in historic west midtown Atlanta. The Atlanta Contemporary is fast becoming one of my favorite places in the city. They are a non-profit, non-collecting art center that is dedicated to the advancement of emerging and established artists. Admission is free and they have several exhibitions each year. Every time I visit, I discover a new favorite artist.
Kelly and David’s wedding is the second wedding I’ve photographed at the Atlanta Contemporary, and I’m really leaning into the strengths of the venue. It’s got that amazing pavilion outside, but I’m also a huge fan of the big white walls and fantastic architecture on the interior. It’s not a traditional wedding venue in any way, and that’s what makes it so fascinating and exciting to make photos in.
Kelly got ready at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta, and this set of getting ready photos is one of my recent favorites. The Hyatt has such a fantastic retro modern aesthetic, and it really matched perfectly with the graceful elegance of Kelly, her dress, and all of her accessories.
No one is ever excited about rain on their wedding day, but the people who choose venues with a suitable back up space usually have minimal stress. The bonus to a rainy wedding day is that you get to make some photos with the rain, and the pavilion after the rain did not disappoint.
