A song of you
Comes as sweet and clear
As moonlight through the pines
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you

Ten Things to Remember About Traveling in the South
After spending two consecutive weekends in South Georgia, I have realized these ten things about traveling in the south.
1. There is no such thing as a good hair day in south Georgia (or the entire state of Florida, either, for that matter).
2. The ponytail is your friend.
3. If you leave your suitcase in your black car in 95 degree temperatures while parked in direct sunlight, things in your toiletries kit will explode and collect on the bristles of your toothbrush.

4. Hair care products taste bad and are ineffective at removing dental plaque.
5. It really is the heat. No. Really. It’s the heat. It’s hot.
6. GAWD, people in the south drive sloooooooow. And tourists will park anywhere to read a map or historical marker, even smack dab in the middle of your lane that’s traveling in the opposite direction.

7. Krispy Kreme donuts are waaaay better than Dunkin’ Donuts’ donuts.
8. Paula Dean, the Butta Queen, can make some damn fine collard greens. And sweet tea. I don’t even like sweet tea, but I drank two glasses of hers.
9. Gnats outnumber people in the south by a factor of a trillion to one.

10. No matter what I complain about while I’m there, it’s still home.
